The main negative of this surgery are the scars which can be quite ugly-raised off the surface, red and spread-ropey like. These do usually fade with a long time and can be treated with revisions/lasers/compression/cortisone injections. The incision ends up either in the crease on the inside of the arm or can be placed at the back of the arm. I usually combine this with liposuction.

I do not place any drains but keep ace wraps and/or gauntlet type support for only about one week followed by wound support like paper tape for several months. The cost is about $6000 plus about $1500 for the MD anesthesiologist/hospital outpatient operating room. It is done under general anesthesia and can be combined with other procedures.

Upper Back Lift can also be performed wherever the excess skin is but usually where the bra goes across the back. The approximate costs of this are $6000 plus about $1500 again for anesthesia/operating room fees. No drains are placed, recovery is usually within two weeks with showering within five to seven days. The complications besides infection/bleeding can be bad scars but usually not as bad as the arm scars.
