Buttock enlargement is performed as an
outpatient at a hospital center under anesthesia
by an MD anesthesiologist.
The implants come in different shapes and sizes
and consistencies.
I usually place the cut around in the buttock crease
and it is about two inches in length. I usually try
and place the implant underneath the muscle to ensure
a more natural result and prevent seeing and feeling
the implant.
The surgery takes about one and half hours. Usually
you can return to light activity within several
days and any activity after two weeks. Usually you
are able to take a shower, drive, go back to school/work
in several days.
The more tissue that covers the implants, the better
the result will be. Also, the size to which the
buttock can be augmented also will depend on how
much room there is for the implants. Complications
like infection with the body rejecting the implant
does occur as well as asymmetry, fluid collections (seromas),
numbness. Unfortunately, the patient that needs
the implant the most, someone who has no buttock
and is thin, has very little tissue to cover the
implants! One’s own fat can also be transferred
to the buttock area in conjunction with liposuction
in another part of the body or as a separate procedure.
The increase that one can achieve is very limited
with this procedure.
