Septal Surgery can be done separately
or in conjunction with Rhinoplasty surgery. If separately,
it is done for deviation or curvature of the septum
and resultant difficulty breathing. If this does
exist, there is a good chance that breathing will
be improved. This surgery is performed as an outpatient
under general anesthesia administered by an anesthesiologist.
The cost of this portion is about $1500 and my fee
is $3500. It usually takes about one hour and usually
no visible dressings, just packing inside the nose
is placed, are visible and black and blue does not
result.
Light activity is possible after several days and
any after two weeks except for running. Bleeding
can occur if too much is done as well as infection
and even interference with the sense of smell. Some
deviation will probably still exist after surgery.
