Pectoral Implants
are done as an outpatient under general anesthesia
administered by an MD anesthesiologist.
I normally use an incision in the armpit area and
place the implant underneath or along the side of
the pectoralis(chest) muscle. They
do come in various dimensions and sizes.
I do not place any drains but wrap the patient with
an ace and minimize movement and activity for several
days and raising the arms too much for even two
weeks. After two weeks, activity is unrestricted.
Complications like bleeding,
infection, fluid collection, loss of sensitivity,
scarring may occur but is minimal.
